This book is based in the near and possible future. It takes a look at what could happen if our world keeps on going the way it has. The main character in the beginning seems like he has no other option but to enter into a facility that is normally for the terminally ill. He had been through a divorce, list his job and just seems like life has no meaning. While there many things happen to help him realize that life is and should not be over. He plots a plan on how to escape, to get back to his wife and to life. I have not gone into any great detail, but know this, this novel will make you think about our world,and what we can do to make it better. It is a fun read, and I highly recommend it.Product details

Ashes of the Sun is a fun read. It definitely keeps you turning the pages. I read this book aloud to my husband as we traveled cross country. He enjoyed it so much that he wouldn't let me stop reading, it was a great way to pass the miles away.
This is a fast paced novel with unexpected twists and turns. It has a very unique and intriguing outlook on the future of our planet and how the people living in it have decided to deal with matters of death and disease. Easy 3-4 day read allows the reader a good afternoon read over a long weekend.
I love it. Excellent writing and description to paint a picture in your mind. Captivating story to keep you reading.
I am an avid reader of bang-bang shoot'em Wild West novels and I didn't think I was going to enjoy "Ashes of the Sun", but I was very wrong! It is well written and held my interest. It is both thought provoking and enjoyable.
A must read!
Just finished Ashes of the Sun by E. Allred. Fun and easy read indicative of a first time effort by an author with a good imagination and a great deal of potential. The story line kept my interest and I found myself being a little disappointed when I turned the final page. I felt some of the characters were in need of "fleshing out", admittidly hard to do in such a short work. Not with standing a few typos, the text seemed well editied and flowed well. The world people are living in is a far cry from idyllic life. Because of generations of wasting resources and pollution, these people are living in a toxic waste. It was well written, and at first, the reader is looking for another twist and wondering what is going on and why. I wasn't sure the plot would pick up; is started slow, but it did pick up and carried me right along. Jamison Carn is trying to escape his ordered, isolated life for things we each hold dear...freedom, love, and the chance to be an individual of worth. Eric B. Allred takes you from wondering what a waste of space Jamison is to caring and cheering him on once you understand what Jamison is about. Enjoyed the book; worth the read.
